- Are my documents uploaded to a server?
- The documents are shown in your browser, and their text and formatting are sent to our server to be compared. Pictures and embedded files are removed before upload, since the comparison does not need them. Files are processed for the comparison and not kept.
- Which file formats are supported?
- Word .docx files (Word 2007 and newer), including macro-enabled .docm and templates. Legacy .doc files need to be re-saved as .docx in Word first.
- Does it compare formatting too?
- Yes. Fonts, sizes, bold, italic, underline, colours, highlighting, alignment, indents, spacing, list formats, table and cell formatting, page setup and style definitions are all compared. You can switch formatting off to compare text only.
- How are tracked changes handled?
- Each document is compared as if its tracked changes were accepted: deleted text is left out and inserted text is kept.
